Default Is this a good deal?

I can get this from Dell for 984.73 I do not want to build and am not a gamer. What do you think? Do I need the 64bit version of vista premium to utilize all 4gb of memory? Thanks. Dell Inspiron 530 Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB) SMQ66H [223-5256]

After just researching a lot of those parts myself, I would have to say, yes, the price seems appropriate for what you're getting.

It's a big processor, plenty of RAM to start with. The video card is "average" by gaming standards, but since you're a non-gamer it will be plenty for you. Dell never lists the power supply or the motherboard they use, but I think they're pretty good at meeting you're system's requirements (just make sure to reseach what you have before you ever try to upgrade anything).

Vista and XP 32-bit will recognize up to 4GB memory (I read that 4GB exactly and higher it seems to not work).

Thanks for the reply. If I get it I would replace the P/S. From what I've read, it's only a 300 or 350 watt. Thanks again.

I have a friend running Vista Ultimate 64-bit with 4 gigs of RAM and says that it runs like a dream, but that is just his preference.
