Default comments on this build

I have been looking at building a computer for the first time. This build is going to be used for playing games such as Crysis, COD4 and some other ones. I will also use it for internet, multimedia and what not. I have been doing a lot of research and this is what I came up with so far.

Wish list details

I know there are 3 different rams in there. Which one would be the better one? I thought about going with a quad core but I heard many games do not yet support quad core so I am going to wait on that.

What do you all think about this setup?

sounds like a nice set up. i think i would go with OCZ Gold 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2, but then its down to personal preference really

Well I ordered everything except for the processor off of Newegg last night. Here is what I bought:

Wish list details

Now I bought the processor off of Dealiverable.com. I bought it last night and now today I get an email from them saying my order is canceled because the item is out of stock. This really makes me mad because on the item page it says it is available. If it's not available they should say on that page. This really burns me up

I have been looking around to see if I can find any some where else and have not found any that is not overpriced. Looks like if I buy one now, I am going to have to spend $250 or wait until Newegg gets them back in stock. Even Newegg is a little high compared to some other places.

The e8400 but my order was canceled because it was out of stock.

Right now I have an order placed through Tigerdirect.com for the oem version and now it says it is on backorder I am about to buy the q6600 just so I can get my new rig running but I really want that e8400.

I would like to stay with the e8400 now and maybe few years down the road upgrade to the 45nm quad cores.

Would you be afraid to buy a used processor? I found a used e8400 retail on ebay. Right now it is at $222 and ends in about 5 minutes. It has only been used for 2 weeks.

I wouldn't buy a used processor, and certainly not off ebay.

Sometimes you can get good results from ebay, but personally I avoid it like the plague, once bitten twice shy.

very true at the most. You have a probobly 99.9% chance of getting good products from newegg or Amazon, but on ebay its really a no hold bars game. Theres no release forms like on amazon and newegg just has really good prices and products. GO with newegg!! i bought a 500 Gig OEM hdd from them and it is still the best hdd in my house. i bought a 17" syncmaster 720n from amazon and the price was cheap and it works like a charm. But yea overall, go with Amazon or Newegg. NO EBAY!!!

So what CPU did you end up getting?
