| You should spend some time looking at Newegg which are pretty much the cheapest PC stuff retailer in America. Here's their laptops page: Newegg.com - Laptops The HP laptop at the top of the page looks like an excellent deal and generally HP laptops are reliable. The only thing is that you'll probably want a legal copy of Windows XP to install over the default Vista.

| I see from that laptop it only has 1GB of RAM.Why is it that manufacturers only put 1GB in and install Vista as the OS - from what Ive learned you really do need 2GB of RAM to efficiently run Vista...or as Ash says, install XP over it. |

| It does seem really silly that manufactures only put in 1GB and install vista as the OS. from experience you can only really run vista with minimal features if you only have 1gb memory. Even with 2GB vista aero still doesnt run to my satisfaction. I would recommend windows xp, but then its down to personal preference i suppose. I wish you luck in finding a laptop that meets your needs. JustinGH |

I to have been searching for laptops for my small business, and after quite a bit of reading on the internet for the type of application you are talking about the Lenovo Thinkpad T61 might fit both your budget and your needs...Lenovo is running a 25% off sale now thru March 10th......another possibility is the Dell Vostro 1400 well within your budget and from the reviews good for small business applications.....Full Disclosure... I do not own any of these units and am passing on information that I have read researching for my small business.Hope this gives you some possibilities.............. Good Luck with your buy.
