seriously, i mean S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y. the fact that my HP Photosmart Printer (1115) doesn't work with Vista (on my new laptop [i had no choice but Vista when I bought it in the store]) is rifreakindiculous! i wasn't mad at first (because i don't use the printer everyday) but looking at it now, i see this is just WRONG! the printer is hardly 4 years old. **our society has become far too wasteful -especially if we're just expected to go out and buy another printer every time a new OS is released.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Talking It works! don't throw away your printer just yet!
So, it became a game to see if I could get my printer to work. I want to share the steps I took. Less printers in the trash is my goal!


These are the directions for getting a HP Photosmart 1115 printer to work with Vista:

1) Go to the Control Panels in Vista and Select Printers
2) Click Add A Printer
3) Choose Add Local Printer
4) Make sure Use Existing Port is selected and on the pull down menu choose Dot4_001 (Generic IEEE 1284.4 Printing Support)
5) Select HP under Manufacturer and Choose HP Photosmart 7200 on the list of Printers.
6) Click Next
7) After the installation has finished, Plug your printer into a USB slot and cross your fingers!

This worked for me and I was happily surprised. If it works for you, spread the word!
