Question Quicktime file hard drive issues -bleh!

Hey guys and girls,

I've got a problem.
I have on my external USB hard drive a Quicktime Movie file that I created. It plays just fine when I load it from the external hard drive. Now, when I load the file on my laptop, the file opens but is corrupted and has even crashed (blue screen of death) my computer.
So, I thought it must be something that happened during the transfer. I loaded the file that I thought was corrupted onto another USB hard drive and it works perfectly. The "corrupted file" has a digital static image and sound. What the heck is going on?!

I posted the cnet specs on my computer below- just in case that helps. I know I bought a cheap laptop, but shouldn't it be able to play a 60MB Quicktime file?

Compaq Presario F730US - Athlon 64 X2 TK-55 1.8 GHz - 15.4" TFT Laptop reviews - CNET Reviews

Please help me understand what's going on.
Thanx :-)

When it played fine from another hard drive, was it straight from the HD or did you copy it to another hard drive and then to your laptop? You probably mentioned this but I can't think straight this morning

Exclamation

I made a video to demonstrate.

YouTube - Computer Problem

I think the video will better explain what's going on.

I'm still determined to fix this. So, after my computer had the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH I opened it again and fast forward through it. I got an error message! HURRAY! this is a good thing, I believe. Reminder: This happens on my friend's Vista laptop as well, but it doesn't happen on other computers that I've tried it on. UUGH

UPDAAATE: because of the error message that I posted above, I've learned that this is INDEED A Windows Vista problem! Wow, All along I thought it was my hardware. The only recommendations that I can find on other Message Boards are to use VLC Player. This is not a solution in my book. Oh well! Thought I'd keep y'all updated :-)
