Default Hey guys could use some help...

Hi everyone,

I have decided to build my next gaming computer and have come up with a list of components but would like some advice on what I’ve chosen. Is it all compatible are there any choices which are a bit overkill and are there any just plain mad choices. As this is my first build any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Graphics card: XFX 8600GTS XXX version 256MB DDR3 DVI PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3GHz Socket 775 4MB Cache 1333MHz FSB Retail Boxed Processor - Ebuyer
Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI 650i Socket 775 PCI-E Onboard Audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer
HDD: Hitachi 250GB Hard Drive 7200RPM 8MB Cache - OEM - Ebuyer
Ram: Kingston 2GB DDR2 Memory - Cheap at Ebuyer!
PSU: Extra Value 550W ATX Silent Neon PSU - 12cm Fan/PPFC (no power cord) - Ebuyer
Case: Aspire X-Cruiser Black ATX Windowed Gaming Case - No PSU - Ebuyer

the only two things i think u could really benifit from is a better GPU... and some 800Mhz ram aposse to the 667Mhz but also depends on what games u plan to play?

I agree with 800mhz ram.

I have a ASUS P5N32-E SLI PLUS with my core 2 duo E6600, i have a 8600GT but with 512mb VRAM - its runs all the latest games fine. (Runs WoW full everything at 60fps, which is the max framerate)

I would also recommend getting a cast with dual 120mm fans instead of your 80mm one.

Aaahhh! well for WoW you will definately dominate it with that computer... but games like crysis and others comming out u will struggle.. so if ur only playing games like Wow and that then that build is perfect but if ur hoping to play newer games comming out then saving up a little bit more will definately work in your favour

Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-12) Heat Spreader Lifetime Warranty - Ebuyer
instead of the other RAM and maybe a better ventilated case it should be ok for now, and its all compatible right?

yeah thats the same ram im getting its really good..and everything is compatible on your list.. just if u want to play the newer games comming out u might want to upgrade the video card.. but the video card u have chossen WILL run WoW on max graphic settings.

P.S. if u want to upgrade your video card i suggest an 8800GTS their not too expenssive but they are quite powerful and are VERY capable of playing the new games coming out but thats totaly up to you

Thats my ram

Also, i dont think your PSU is powerful enough for a 8800 series card as they need a 12pin connector and your PSU is only 6pins.

But its fine with a 8600GT - they consume very little power compared.

lol oh yeah if u do go with the 8800 then maybe an upgrade in power supply haha computers suck! soon as u change one thing a chain reaction always occurs!

a 650watt PSU like this one would be sufficient... but thats only if u chose to upgrade your graphics card..if not then the 550watt should do fine

well i speak of this with experience . the hard drive you have picked out sucks.

hitachi drives are the worst know to fail. if i was you id Get a Western Digital . and get one with a 16Mb cache .. which will perfrom better than the 8mb ones

like this one
Western Digital 250gb SATAii/150 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM - Ebuyer

I agree. Western Digital HDD's are far superior to Hitachi's

Actually, Hitachi had a large laptop hard drive recall about 2 years ago. So, I will concur.

Guess who has a Hitachi drive in his laptop, and had one in his old laptop, which failed after 8 months...
