no the link you posted was to 2 western digital raptors

ok yes they come in a single stick... but that will be a lot more money and will not operate in dual channel mode ... and if you buy a second stick of another ammount ... it wont work in dual channel mode either... the best bet for 3Gb is to get 2 2gb sticks and then the os will only see about 3.5Gb .. but its only 512mb... but your call on that one... dual channel is ages faster than single channel

Heh, sorry bout that typo.

Is this comparable to the 2x1GB in terms of performance if I were to go to 4GB (~3.5):

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Ok, so they are $300. The ones I linked were $150ish. What's the difference in specs between the two that help justify the price? I like the reviews on the kingston, but I'm ignorant about what CAS setting are better and how these two modules are different.

well here your getting into the performance area

the main thing is kingston has a better reputation that the other brand for the high performance memory .

the other memory is great and im not denying that ... but if you asked me id go with the k-ston....

but if you cannot afford it newegg offers a 30 day return policy where thye pay for shipping both ways and you can send it back and get soemthing better at any time in that 30 day peroid your call

Computer is running great, but all my cables are a mess. The new video card is massive, so I'll need to spend half a day finding some way to route all the wires around it in a manner than doesn't leave me so nervous.
