Newegg.com - CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail or, more reasonable: Newegg.com - CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail What's the extra money giving me? Nah, certainly don't want to drop $350 on memory. Just wondering what waranted the pricetag, that's all. I just realized I"m going to need a better power supply. I think mines a Spire 450W. |

On a side note, I'm not overclocking anything. My case has good ventilation, but I've never dared to touch my settings. The reviews for the card say it's really 'overclockable.' At this point, wouldn't my processor be the slowest link? Its FSB is 1066, but I know that's not what each core 'runs' at, right? But, I guess one thing at a time... I'm really considering purchasing the memory/video card/psu...My wife may have a word or two for you. |

| well not exactly ... the slowest thign now will really be your hard drive..and the best option for that upgrade would be a raptor which would be alot more money. as far as dar as the CPU goes... an upgrade for that would be around 200-300 more what id do for now is this: do the new ram and video card psu etc and see how it runs.. if you still feel the need for more power... that mobo supports quad core processors |

Thinking of the following for my HDD upgrade: Newegg.com - Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM |
| |||
| yep just be sure you have a sata cable , as OEM hard drives do not come with the cable! ________________________ This user added the following: ________________________ you will have to copy all of the contents of the old drive into the new drive... then leave the old drive in a plugged in and then boot the pc and enter the bios and select the 150Gb western digital raptor to boot from... if everyhtign goes well it will boot perfectly ... if not put it back to normal and post back here Last edited by DB6150; 10-14-2007 at 03:41 AM. I guessing I should do the new HDD first (installing O/S if needed). Then either the PSU or RAM. Then the video card (Def PSU before vid card, of course On a side note, my wife isn't so upset about my $770. Must be the change in season |
