I have three at home (two desktops and on laptop), and several hundred at my shop.

Between my family it is 6. Two laptops (unfortunately on mac), and four desktops, one for each member of the family.

I have 3 Desktops, 2 laptops and an old, broken MacBook

I have one for myself and 1 for the rest of family both desktops.

i have 2 laptops

Just the two: My 3 year old HP Desktop and my HP Laptop which I brought last week to replace the cheap and tacky Acer.

I like acer laptops ..... sure they are no toshiba or HP but they are still great after some software hacking a ripping( legal of course)

Until they break that is...

eh you may have gotten a dud

Ash probably did get a dud, and so does everybody else who buys acer laptops.
I bought one in 2005 at circuitcity, after all the rebates and taxes it came out to $620
Right now I'm having problems with the CDRW/DVD drive and my touchpad, heck I've only had it for 2 years and it's already busting into pieces.
Now come on, I think laptops should last at least 5 years without defects if you take care of it.
This actually is the first laptop I bought brand new, I took care of it like I'd take care of a million bucks. I cleaned the screen, keyboard, heatsink every month. I even got it a birthday present every year, last year I bought it another 512 Mb of memory and the year before I bought it a tv tuner.
Now if this is not taking care a computer, I don't know what is.

I'll tell you now. The next laptop I buy is goind to be the best IBM Lenovo out there that I can get for $1000. My brother bought on and it has great features, a little light built into the screen like a web cam so you can see the keyboard in the dark, nice compact and thin, and a great C2D processor.

One of the best things about living here in the UK is the Sales of Goods Act. Basically, an item must last for a reasonable amount of time and be of a good quality. If the item sold does not meet these expectations, then the retailer MUST replace or refund it under UK law - thats why I got a refund on my Acer laptop after 8 months of ownership.
