it dosent need to have any new slots , but maybe one pci slot for an old video card for 2 monitors (but is not nessecary)

I am thinking eBay is a good bet.

eBay - socket 7, Super7, Socket7 Motherboard, Socket A Motherboard items on eBay.com

You might wish to look into any local computer recycling places near where you live, sometimes they have cheap old components available. Out of curiousity, why are you trying to revive an old computer? If it is for old games, I totally understand, I have an oldie running for just such a situation. Also, check out the classifieds in your area, they may yield something too.

Default Socket 7

Ahhh! The old and mighty Socket 7 AMD motherboard. What fond memories I have of these (and the socket 5).

If you live near a large city, try hunting CraigsList or Backpage.com for your nearest local.

Craigs List is by far the busiest (over Backpage.com) and covers USA, Europe, Canada, Asia, UK & IE, etc.

What are you building, by the way?

ok to anwser both of your questions, i have an old compaq 5451 but the motherboard died i have the proc and 4 sticks of mem for it , and i just want to revive it to run spread sheets , because it has MS office 2003 and alot of useful programs and that 500Mhz ran them all fine , i just want to get them running

i live in the country , (the little left in FL) but i work in the city ... so i will check, i know of a buddy of mine who lives in oregon with one with 3 mem slots that will work , but if i can find something closer

i also have an old Pentium 2 that i would like to get into a box .... but its only 400Mhz

Default Excel

A P-2 will run Excel spreadsheets just fine. I love Excel and have created all sorts of neat stuff with it. Did you know that there are even games designed in Excel?

On of my favorite is Connect-4 ... Yea, in Excel. Search Google for "Excel Games."

Keep us posted on your progress.
