| Hi everybody. Please patronise me. I have bought a 21" Trinitron CRT monitor. It's display of text at POST and the Pre- OS legend in Windows are as expected, but when Windows or Linux is loaded there is multiple ghosts to the right of texts and icons etc... I'm hoping it's not damaged. Any ideas what the solution might be? My new Monitor is: Dell Trinitron P91130 Resolution Horizontal scan range 30 kHz to 130 kHz (automatic) Vertical scan range 48 Hz to 170 Hz (automatic) Optimal preset resolution 1280 x 1024 at 85 Hz Highest preset resolution 1600 x 1200 at 85 Hz Highest addressable resolution* 2048 x 1536 at 80 Hz * Addressable means the monitor will sync up to this mode. However, Dell does not guarantee the image will be sized and centred correctly. Electrical Video input signals analogue Vpp, positive at 75 ohm Synchronization input signals separate horizontal and vertical; and composite TTL level, positive or negative Sync on Green at 0.3 Vp-p AC input voltage / frequency / current 100 to 240 VAC / 50 or 60 Hz ± 3 Hz / 1.6 A (RMS) at 120 VAC and 0.9 A (RMS) at 220 VAC Inrush current at 120 V 50 A Inrush current at 240 V 80 A Dell guarantees image size and centering for all preset modes listed in the following table. Documentation My video card Spec is: SiS Mirage Graphics Chip type SiS 760IC DAC Type Internal Memory 32 MB Adapter string Mirage 2 BIOS Info 2.03.00 NB: Dropping the res or refresh rate makes no difference |

| Thanks you for the post. Ghosts on the screen after boot is something common in higher resolution VGA monitors. First try updating your video card firmware for this higher resolution monitor. Second, if you can use a DVI cable connection on this VGA monitor to your PC, go with it. Please post back your results after upgrading the firmware Last edited by Tom; 05-06-2007 at 12:17 PM. |

| Hi there nnjond, Firstly , welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you can visit our forum often in the future and post - rather than just receive our advice, fix your problem and then disappear - doing so is unfair and considered rude, particularly to those who have helped you. We provide our help for free, and all we ask in return is that you participate in our forum and refer your friends, or consider a premium membership. As the others have suggested, I say you should try a firmware update on your video card first. If that doesn't work - contact Dell - it may be a fault with the monitor itself and it doesn't often pay to attempt to fix something yourself when the item is under warranty - you are entitled to a replacement and shouldn't have to fix their manufacturing errors.

| Well, all we ask is that you post - whether in help request threads or just in the non-computer forums, or you consider purchasing a premium membership, which goes towards the hosting and domain fees which I pay to keep this site going. Or, just recommends us to friends and use us as your primary computer resource. You see, it is not fair for you to expect us to help you, and us receive absolutely nothing in return.
