| Oh. Well, the links work for me when I just tried them. Weird. Just be careful what components you get and make sure they're all compatible. Regarding the PSU--a higher wattage power supply will not have any adverse effects on your motherboard (assuming that the PSU isn't cheap and doesn't crap out, taking out some components too). Be careful to make sure that the PSU is compatible with your mobo--make sure it has the 20-pin motherboard power connector AND the 4-pin P4 connector that is used for newer P4/AMD 64 CPU's. Whichever way you choose to go on your new system, just keep in mind my previous advice: If you buy the cheapest components, you'll get a cheap computer. If you want a computer with good components that's guaranteed to last you for a year or two with no problems, then you should save up your money and spend it on better components.

| Hi. The RAM is crap and you should consider getting a better heatsink/fan for the CPU. That HSF (heatsink/fan) will likely not work very well--even the stock HSF that comes with newer retail versions of AMD 64 CPU's is much better than the one you listed. Here's my recommendation--dump all of the flashy/good looking stuff for now, spend that money on better components, and then modify your case later. Sacrificing good components for flashy items isn't the best way to build your first computer. That's just my humble opinion. Get main-stream, quality-brand RAM--And keep in mind that you'll have a dual-channel memory motherboard, so getting a single piece of 1GB RAM is a poor decision--if you want 1GB RAM, you should get a 1GB kit (aka 2x512mb pieces of RAM--MATCHED from the manufacturer). You'll really see a difference in performance, and I believe it's cheaper to buy two pieces of 512 rather than a single piece of 1GB. And really--go with quality RAM, not the cheapest you can find. It's worth it, believe me. In the future, please do not create a new thread if you already started one discussing your new build--even if you choose to change components, etc. Thanks.

| It's worth sacrificing space for speed if you want a fast PC. The hard drive is the slowest part of your computer [bar maybe optical /floppy drives] - and a 10,000 RPM drive would yield better performance than a 7,200RPM drive [or 5,400RPM Drive].

| ||||
| iTunes is a program that lets you download music legally and safely. Also Napster — Play and download music without paying per song. is a great music downloading service. As for getting music for free via P2P... that's another thing we can't talk about here, otherwise the feds might shut us down.

| yea i ment like itunes not some like free donwloading site. sorry about that and wow i just got my case and I was installing my drives and i didn;t know my case was so sharp the metal is like a razor i cut my fingrer open on it i guess its kinda n00bish but yea and have u ever heard about those sleeves that u can appply over your power supply wires to make it a color how do you install them there like impossible? thNKS |
| ||||
| I think you usually buy the coloured wires especially for your PSU... but I don't often build computers - and when I do I don't build them for prettiness - but I'm sure you can simply use cable ties if you just want to keep them together for air flow/ tidiness.

| i am not exactly sure either. i think that you just twist them... also, although being good, unfortunately the 10000rpm HDD are extremely expensive... by the way, could you post me the link to the case that you have bought, or the name or something, i want to see how cool it looks!!! thanks
