Default Pentium D

i am a gamer, and i am going to buy a CPU. i have found that Intel's C2D's seem good, but are unfortunately out of my price range. i was looking at the AMD athlon 64 X2 3800+, but people say that that is not too good either. unfortunately i have a rather low budget, and suddenly i saw a Pentium D 935 (3GHz) and it has FSB800 and 2x2mb cache. it all seems good for a gaming computer, and it is rather cheap, but everyone says that it is bad, but why?

thanks...

I have a Pentium D 805, and I've never had a problem with it. Not even after overclocking it 30%. But, I don't game on my PC, so I can't tell you if Pentium D's are any good for gaming or not... But, they are good processors. Although, if you're really like a "hard-core gamer", then you might want to wait to save up to get a C2D processor. It'd be worth it, I think.
