Default LCD monitor resolution error

Hi to you all

Its my first post so if I do something wrong SORRY.

The problem I have is that I was stupid to mess around with the resolution of my home screen. After changing from the middle stting down to 640x400 then up to the top setting the screen just went dead. Now when I reboot the screen after going through the startup sequence the screen just has a error message, something like unable to support setting? and goes to power save mode with a 20 second timer on it which counts down and the screen goes off. Everything was fine until I altered the settings. I am on windows 98 with an 15in LG flat screen.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Default What is your computers resolution?

Do you know what the settings on your computer are set at?

Do you know what the settings of your LCD monitor set at?

If you do please say what they are set at.

Hey cadman,

It sounds like you have set the resolution too high for your monitor - if you have it, you should be able to find the maximum supported resolution by the monitor on the box or the manual.

You should however be able to set it back in Safe Mode, which by default uses a lower screen resolution.
To get into safe mode, press and hold F8 while starting your computer. When the boot menu appears, select "Safe Mode".

If your computer produces a message complaining of a "stuck key", press and release repeatedly F8 instead.
