Default Need notebook advice.

Hello all, I have finally decided to take the plunge and get a notebook. Can any give me some advice on brands to look at and brands to avoid? I will be getting the new windows Vista operating system. I doubt that would make any difference but I thought I would throw that in there. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Sean

Hi Sean,

It would be great if you could provide us with some information so we can find the best notebook to suit your needs.

What do you intend on using it for? What country do you live in? What is your budget? And do you intend on travelling a lot with it?

Also, Microsoft have a program where you can get a free upgrade to Vista if you recently purchased a computer, all you pay is the processing fee, you can claim it if your computer comes with Windows Professional or Windows Media Center Edition preloaded. Don't let the manufactures make you pay more for Vista.

Default Notebook advice

Hey Ash thanks for replying. I live in the U.S.A. And my main intentions on use is minor home computing, internet, and movie playing. But on the same hand I don't want to limit myself down the road. I would like to get way more than I would need. I have been told to go with core 2 duo processor. I have been told by the people in the computer stores (Best-Buy, Circuit City, Staples, etc.) To go with either a HP or a Toshiba. I want something with a good reputation for service and reliability. Thanks for any help. Sean

Well, I own an Acer notebook and I'm pleased with the value-of-money I got, even if the design is a little basic and flimsy.
