| So I'm assuming you're talking about CPU's. In general, OEM packages contain the CPU only--no heatsink or fan. Retail version (aka "boxed" versions) contain the CPU, and the heatsink/fan combination.

| With a cpu and other stuff from tigerdirect and new egg, and other computer stores retail has stuff like the heatsink,wires and fan with it,OEM is just the product listed like just a cpu and nothing else.Hope I am being clear enough.

| In a nutshell, OEM stuff is mainly for computer builders [big and small] who don't want the fancy colour-printed packaging or the accessories such as fans and manuals with their hardware. Because of this, it's cheaper.
