Laptop LCD inverter HOT

I have a HP Omnibook XE3 Laptop that I just bought a new HD for and my LCD Inverter is really hot to the touch I mean right through the plastic. I don"t want to over heat the new HD is this going to be a problem? Should this LCD inverter be this HOT? Would a new one Be HOT to the touch Right through the Plastic ? maybe someone Has had this happen is this a sign of Something gone wrong?
