| I am thinking of getting one of those cooling pads for my laptop but I was wondering if there is any way to do something cool with it like add some sort of underglow to it. I figured some sort of usb powered leds or something which could either be part of the cooling pad itself or plug in seperately. I googled this for a few mins and mostly found other people who wanted to do it but nobody who has actually acomplished it for some reason. any ideas of what i might need to do something of that sort? Also, besides all the fancy stuff does the cooling pad itself really preserve the life of a computer all that much? I mean does the computer overheating cause damage to it over time that we should try to prevent?

| Overheating a computer is never good. If they hadn't been needed, the fans are quite useless arn't they? So yes, you damage the components without proper cooling. Laptops running 8 or more hours a day tend to have shorter lifetime than the ones used mainly for what i like to call "travelling work" eg. a train ride where you prepare for a meeting or something like that. The cooling pad (there are many of them) should help to preserve the life a great deal. The even better way is to not use the laptop as much and buy a stationary to run 24/7 if that's what you'd like to do. Use the laptop when you travel, either for entertainment or for doing your job. That's just my 0.2 worth tho. Edit: Would be an idea to answer the second part of the question aswell ![]() Logisys Foldable Laptop Cooling Pad with Fan Speed Control #NP660 quite handy cooling pad. Shouldn't be to hard to modify with led's either. Although, drilling holes and fitting led's in it is probably not the first thing you would want to do with a new bought product..

| ok, thanks for the info. with that said I probably will need to purchase a cooling pad because I use my notebook much more often than my desktop computer. For one I do need portability from time to time and it's handy to have most of my computer life on one comp, also my laptop is much more powerful. also i was looking at these here: NEW USB LED Laptop Notebook 3 Fan Cooler Cooling Pad - (item 220139158912 end time Aug-11-07 12:36:31 PDT) which has three fans with blue LEDs... maybe this would produce the lighting effect that I am looking for?

| lol lightbulbs ok well maybe I'll get one of those then idk. I think all laptops should come with underglow installed but thats just me lol. I think the logo on the front should light up too, and the keyboard should glow.
