Default iMicro IM760 web cam

Hello. I just ordered a web cam off of newegg with a very nice price and it is a nice camera. At least, that's what I thought. I pooped the driver disk in and started reading the instructions. It all seemed fine until the instructions told me to ignore a security warning that went along the lines of this device possibly destablizing Windows. The instructions told me to, so I did. Big mistake.

My computer immediately glitches and an hour and a half later, most of which was spent in safe mode, I have Windows working properly. Turns out this thing decided to install files to the system and system32 files. I need this webcam. Can anyone help me?

Hmm.. what files did it install to your system/system32 folder? It's normal for drivers to go in there, but certainly not program files. Did the system fail with and/or without the webcam plugged in?
Also, have other webcams been installed on the machine in the past?

Default Web Cam

First, you need to check the manufacture website for driver updates and patches (the manufacture website is not the same place where you purchased the web-cam). If the manufacture is aware of these problems, they usually have designed some sort of workaround for the PC operating system.
  • What is the Make and model of the Web cam?
  • What driver version are you trying to install?
  • What is your Operating System and Service Pack level?

You need to report this bug to the manufacture, if they are not already aware of it.

Please let us know your results, and post back.
