| I've got to print tickets where I print 2 copies (like a reciept) where you have an original that you sign, and a yellow copy that you can file. Right now I use a dox matrix printer which is slow as molasses. I know I can't use a laser printer for this, but can is there another printer that is not as slow (and loud) as the dot matrix. It seems the printer that prints receipts in restaurants is faster, but I don't know how they are different. Thanks. |

| The receipt printers at restraunts and can now commonly be found at most modern POS systems, are thermal printers. These typically do not take ink, but print by applying heat to specially-treated paper [relatively inexpensive]. The main advantage to dot-matrix printing is that they can print a carbon-copy [yellow paper]. As far as I know, a dot-matrix or other impact-based printer is the only way you can make carbon-copy prints. However, you should be able to set up your POS system to create duplicate receipts.
