I have heard about using a DVI cable for my flat screen display, can anyone tell me about using this cable and if it is worth getting one?

Really, you won't notice any difference between VGA and DVI input. The simple thing is that VGA is an analogue way of getting video from your video card to your monitor and DVI is digital. But I've never been able to tell the difference and I very much doubt you will benefit from using one.
