I fear that my old HP Deskjet 840c won't be with us this time next year. It's got a habit of making all sorts of strange noises, smearing streaks all over documents and generally not operating at it's best. So I am looking for a new printer to get when it finally gives up the ghost.

I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.

Well, I have a black and white laser printer, and £110 for every 5,000 pages is very good value for money compared with an inkjet. But the start up cost is more. I paid £350 for my black and white laser printer but that was 3 years ago. Now I expect you can get a colour laser printer for the same money, maybe even less!

Hey! I have an Epson Cx3900 and a brother dcp. Both are great! but I am not sure whether they are laser printers, doubt it as they have ink cartridges. Just wonder how much is a laser printer nowadays.
