Default External Harddrive

Any suggestions on good brands? I'm going to expand my storage.

I've heard bad things about Maxtor hard drives.

But, you can buy caddys that let you put in an internal drive and make it external - which gives you more options as to the brand of the hard drive, how much space it has, and you don't need to buy a whole new external hard disk to upgrade, either.

I've heard a lot about Maxtor drives, but maybe they've increased their quality standards.

I also had bad luck with Maxor drives and I swore I would never buy another.
Just too many problems compared to my 4 year old Seagate and Quantum drives which have never given me any issues at all.

The whole hard drive just corrupted for no reason. Everytime I would reformat, but then again a few weeks later the drive would corrupt and i lost everything.

I have a 160GB western digital drive and found it to be a very good harddisk. I have it for 2 years now.

All harddrive companies have there ups and downs. It's really just your luck of the draw. I have seen almost every harddrive brand go bad quickly. However, I do favor Western Digital, Seagate, and Maxtor.
