Question Need recording advice

sup guys,
my bands looking to record some songs and i need to know what the best/cheapest way of recording would be.
Keep in mind we're a metal band so it's gonna be pretty loud.

I really dont think audacity would be any good for recording something like this. You would probably need to contact a recording studio and get some quotes to see which ones are cheaper. If you were to do this through audacity you would need a mixing desk etc and this would prove more expensive than probably seeking a studio

i think you'll find cakewalk software to be simple and adequate for your recording needs.

But hardware also needs to be considered if recording a band playing, You would want something a bit more than cakewalk and your "line in" socket on your computer to make a decent recording.

I've never tried a whole band, as I play gee-tar by myself, but I use acoustica mixcraft. It's free, simple as anything, and you can do several tracks, with built-in effects for guitarists, or any track you play. for something like drums, it may not be easy, but pretty much anyone else could do their part on acoustica, then have the drummer get a simple mixing program for the compy.

What you really need that will get the job done is Garage Band it would make a great recording/mixing/editing program
