I'm pretty sure you need some sort of media software such as the programs built into Win XP MCE or Vista Home Premium and Ultimate.

Actually, I had my Panasonic Plasma hooked up as a monitor. I did the same with the LCD in my grandparents' fridge.

All you need is the right cord, and a spare AV channel

OK, what you need is a spare AV output channel, and two chords for your computer - one for video and one for audio. The chords cost around $10 each (Australian)

or, if you haven't bought the t.v. yet, when you go to get it, be sure to check and see if the one you are looking at has a vga input along with the normal coax cable input. if it does, you should be able to switch between cable t.v. and auxiliary input for your computer.

You just have to match up the output from your video card to the imput in the tv. I bought a graphics card with svideo, since my tv was older and only had svideo. Unfortunately I have to use the computer speakers, so it isn't ideal. But it is just setup for dual monitor so it is pretty simple.Newer motherboards are better equipt with DVI that will interface with HDTV's. You just have to make sure they match.
