Question windows media player

i was wondering if anyone could help with this...
every time i open windows media it opens fine, but then when i select something to play (be it music or video) and press play, the window closes.
does anyone know why this is?????
i cant play anything!

thats sucks pretty bad dude. I would do one of two things. One: i would uninstall windows media player, go to the microsoft website, and download a fresh copy. Two, just for experimental purposes: i would try to right-click on the file you want to open (without having WMP open) and clicking on "open with", then choose WMP. I honestly dont know if this will help, but i think its worth a try.

i tried clicking on it and then "open with" but it didnt work, so i guess ill get a new copy, didnt know you could.

yeah, like i said, just do a fresh install. it might work, who knows? also, itunes is nice for playing mp3s or music even if you dont have an ipod. also there are other free video players that you might want to try if windows media still isn't working.
