Question Westwood games

Hi all!

I love games from Westwood but I've got one big problem with them. I have never, in any games had problems with displaying video. Even movies like MPEG or DivX are working just fine. But in-game cinematics in Dune2000 are choppy, in Red Alert II I must skip the cinematics or the game crashes and I cannot even start Emperor: BFD because after 2 secs. of playing Intro the game doesn't respond. Has someone had this kind of problems? Can you help me with this? Do I need some special codec for Westwood videos?

Hi there asdf400,

I hope that you can visit us and post often in the future - it helps us to grow, and it's only fair that if we help you, you help us. Also it would be fantastic if you could add yourself to our member map. If you need any help using the site or have any suggestions that would help improve your experience, them please do not hesitate to contact us.

This may sound simple - but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games? Often it's the simplest thing that causes problems. Please let us know what you have tried so far so we don't tell you to do what you've already done.

Since it happens with most of his games i highly doubt that its the games themselves, try lowering the specs that the game runs in, or, get a decent graphics card.

However, all of these games are from the same publisher. Therefore, it's likely a similar game / video engine is shared between them.

Well I tried to reinstall but it didn't work. I wondered if the problem isn't that the CDs are corrupted, so I tried them on another computer and they are OK. And the problem shouldn't be in graphics card as well - my card isn't one of the most powerful, but it surely isn't very old. And in contrast Dune 2000 and Red Alert II are older games.

Maybe your PC is too new, i have a lot of problems running older games in XP and its even worse in Vista. You may have to install a virtual drive and install Windows 98.
What are the specs of your PC ?
