I don't think Halo or Call of Duty are suited for 5 year old kids. They are good games, but if you want a good game without too much blood you should try something like Final Fantasy, ofcourse this isn't really for the PC but i mean something in that genre

I would vote against WOW and pick a copy of Guild Wars for an RPG. No blood and gore really to speak of, and no montly fee. Star Wars Battlefront's a good choice too, and Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sims are good for playing along with chdlren.

Mine would have to be Football Manager, it is just so addictive, once you start a new season, you just carry on and carry on playing and you are glued to the screen instead of posting on here which can be a shame at times i must admit.

for singleplayer i recommend Half-Life 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Oblivion. For multiplayer, the Battlefield series, steam mods, and ut series.

Some of the games you might want to check out are Sim City and Rollercoaster Tycoon. Designing a city / theme park is more fun than many people first think.
lol he said he use to have a 10 year old PC

id say get counterstrike source, halflife 2<---so many mods, battlefield 2142, and of course World of warcraft.

Chaos Legion is a pretty good game, it is a fighting game but i do not remember it being covered in blood and guts whatsoever, it's more mythical creatures and such. The Sims is a great family game as long as you are playing the original. Some of the expansions can get a little naughty though. I definately love diablo 2. WOW isn't my type of game but it is pretty non-gory however it does have a hint of violence but then again it's hard to find something in the real world without it. Good luck

I have played Over the Hedge with my five year old son, so do not mind hitting people with golf clubs, etc...

Can anyone suggest a couple of fun and interesting games?

Thanks.
Man, am I your source of PC games...

I have two binders full of 'keepers' as I call them. Even thought I have plenty of other games stashed in the closet.

The entire Warcraft/Diablo/Starcraft series are awesome. Diablo may be past your limits, so read some reviews.

Dungeon Keeper I/II are fun games, and should be able to run on XP (they are a bit old).

Sid Meier's: RAILROADS! is a good sim, along with any of the Simcity games.

If he's into roleplaying, you can always to Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale/Dungeon Siege.

The Civilization series may be a bit intensive for a 10-year-old but, then again, I was 10 and handled many of those sims with flying colors.

You could always try The Sims, a first-person spin-off of Simcity. You build houses/lifestyles/etc.

Phew...there's a brief list. Got to gamespot.com for a good list of PC games and reviews.

Not exactly 10-year-old friendly. But a great game none-the-less.

I love RollerCoaster Tycoon. I can't play any version of Sim City after 2000, as I suck so bad - I need cheats.
