I would vote against WOW and pick a copy of Guild Wars for an RPG. No blood and gore really to speak of, and no montly fee. Star Wars Battlefront's a good choice too, and Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sims are good for playing along with chdlren.

Chaos Legion is a pretty good game, it is a fighting game but i do not remember it being covered in blood and guts whatsoever, it's more mythical creatures and such. The Sims is a great family game as long as you are playing the original. Some of the expansions can get a little naughty though. I definately love diablo 2. WOW isn't my type of game but it is pretty non-gory however it does have a hint of violence but then again it's hard to find something in the real world without it. Good luck

I have two binders full of 'keepers' as I call them. Even thought I have plenty of other games stashed in the closet. The entire Warcraft/Diablo/Starcraft series are awesome. Diablo may be past your limits, so read some reviews. Dungeon Keeper I/II are fun games, and should be able to run on XP (they are a bit old). Sid Meier's: RAILROADS! is a good sim, along with any of the Simcity games. If he's into roleplaying, you can always to Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale/Dungeon Siege. The Civilization series may be a bit intensive for a 10-year-old but, then again, I was 10 and handled many of those sims with flying colors. You could always try The Sims, a first-person spin-off of Simcity. You build houses/lifestyles/etc. Phew...there's a brief list. Got to gamespot.com for a good list of PC games and reviews. |

I love RollerCoaster Tycoon. I can't play any version of Sim City after 2000, as I suck so bad - I need cheats.
