Question for Ash

Have you ever considered a slot where people could post things only concerning Viruses and security problems that they might have on their PC. Also what about a for sale or trade place , where members might sale or trade parts as they upgrade their systems. This is just a thought. Thanks

Yes, I'm not ash. There used to be a buy and sell place because I saw it in the emails. I told ash, and he said it got abused. He then took that part out of the emails.

Yes - the for sale / trade forum was often being abused by spammers, thinking it was okay to make their one and only post in there. After I put a limit on to prevent people with less than 30 posts posting in there, they just started posting in the off topic forums - people see the ads forum and assume it's okay to spam the rest of the site. HOWEVER: I may be adding a system that allows an eBay - style auction site.

As for the security software forum - we had one before I merged down the forums, and I will probably re-add it very soon. Keep the suggestions coming though!

Well, web develpment is fine for HTML./JavaScript etc. but for C and Vb or BASIC, whatever....general software is a little to "general"...not a specific focus on programming. It could do, but general sofware doesn't feel right for programming needs. But its your forums....

It'd be nice to have and eBay type thing. I could sell off my desktop parts right before my upgrade.

i like the idea of an auction style for sale page. one suggestion i would like to make, maybe make it for premium members, mods and admins only?(not that i'm trying to cut everyone else out)

That would make it less likely for there to be spam.

HEY, THAT LOOKS GREAT, ASH!
if u want to keep spammers and the like out, then yes, make it for premium members, mods, and admins. that way the only people who can get to it have to pay for a membership. if they start spamming, just give 'em the boot and keep their $XX.XX

Yeah, the suggestion for Premium Members only is a good one, or possibly a post count = 50 or something for it would be effective. I'm not sure.
