I like Avast as you don't need to do anything - it even downloads updates for you automatically!

The only action you need to do is install it and confirm what to do should you get a virus [if it detects one in something you're downloading, it will stop the download].

And my favorite feature - for home use it's free!
If you spend like 5 mins configing AVG you dont get nag screens, and you can set it to automatically update. It is availible for linux too.
