Sounds like RAM or Bios problems to me. I think you should try Memtest first to test the ram (will require burning a CD from an ISO image). First, I think you should reseat your RAM.

If the RAM tests clean, see about flashing the BIOS, either from the ASUS cd, or from the network update feature.

Chances are, if your Bios (motherboard) is bad, you won't be able to boot to the cd to test your RAM. (then RMA the mobo)

You could also go minimal to get the system to boot for the memory test (only hook up the CD to the mobo (no hard drive))
