Re: Windows XP SP3 There was a problem with MS Small Business POS (Point of Sale) software, such that it caused corruption and even loss of sales data. They delayed Vista Sp1 and Xp SP3 both to fix the problem.
Vista SP 1 was already on the manual download for Windows update (as in you had to go looking for it), and SP3 was slated to be released last Tuesday for manual install via Windows update. That all changed last Monday
I would expect the corrections to be done probably next week, with some testing for a week or two after that.
After they do put it out for manual download, they will place it as optional or critical updates usually 3 weeks after that, according to MS.
