At first I hated it, coverflow there tries to cache the icon of every app on your computer and that just rapes your computer's resources. So that aspect is a waste - but I just changed to the column view and got rid of that crap. You cannot change the default font color in Mail. You can change the font type and color, and when actually in the msg you can go to the color pallet and switch colors, but it REFUSES to switch default colors in the preferences menu .
