Not sure, but i had a friend who got ahold of an illegal version of WinXP (which ofcourse, he didn't know at the time) and when he updated it using windows update, he got a "new and improved" version of WMP which in turn went haywire on him for having an illegal windows copy and it stopped working... among other, he couldn't use it to burn music anymore...
